I'm preparing for worship on Sunday, which happens to be Anniversary Sunday for Arkona United, and am trying to select a theme scripture. Meeting with a couple others last month, we thought we'd go with a theme of "God as author (or source)" for the story/journey of our lives.
The lectionary suggests Matthew 21: 23-32 and I might discuss the necessity of making a choice, of proclaiming one's beliefs rather than sitting on the fence.
Or Philippians 2: 1-13, which note Paul's specific instructions to the church to follow Christ's example and serve others.
Or Exodus 17: 1-7, where the recently escaped Hebrew people complain to Moses about their thirst and he produces water from a rock; this occurs in the beginning of a long journey.
Or would another theme be more appropriate? Or scripture suggestions? (While I am always partial to using the lectionary, I am not tied to it and would be quite willing to use another text).
Make your comments below; I'll have settled on something by this time tomorrow.
