Arkona Session Meeting

Some changes were discussed: beginning November 27, worship at Arkona United will begin at 11:00 instead of 11:15; and for the months of January to March, we'll meet in the downstairs of the church for worship to reduce heating costs.

We wondered about the possibility of "Monday School" instead of Sunday School. The plan is to run an after-school program for children of the church. Following a snack, we'd use our church school curriculum material to offer Christian Education lessons/activities. Are young families interested in this, would this time work? Are there people willing to volunteer (providing snacks, leadership)?

A possible date for this to begin is November 28.

Arkona Stewards Meeting

The financial picture shows that $4000 to $4500 is needed each month to meet our expenses. The rare month has received $3000 at most, $2200 or so is the average. Given that we're losing around $2000 a month, it was decided to use a cashable GIC to address the issue of our bank overdraft. Further budget ideas and discussion was postponed until more people could offer their thoughts.

A "Job Jar" will be set up for people who notice things that need work around the church to submit suggested projects. Work days will be held to work at these jobs. First up, a Clean Out Day set for 9 a.m. Saturday morning, December 3.
