As I got to church this morning for office hours, the aroma of onions was strong in the air. Meat pie season is fully underway. The schedule seems to be shaping up as pastry making, crust-forming on Wednesday afternoon around 1:00; the pie-filling assembly line is at work on Thursday mornings. Anyone who wishes to help is most welcome to join in the fun.
In other onion news, I was at Bosanquet School for the kick-off to their Mentor program. We dined on hot dogs, complete with fried onions. I'm working with a boy in Grade 5, for one hour a week he and I will go off and do something together (usually sports or computers - but it could be reading or baking), to provide a stable adult relationship outside the home. Again, anyone interested in helping out in this ministry, administered through Big Brothers/Big Sisters, is most welcome to speak to me about more details.
So my student buddy and I will be having our sessions on Tuesday mornings, meaning that Bible Study will have to move to the afternoons. How about 2:00? It's easy to remember: "Tuesdays at two."
