Arkona United Church: Annual Meeting 2007 highlights

The costs for the church are $4500-$5000 per month; for 2007, the starting balance is $2000 less than for 2006. Winter worship services in the church basement saved $500 in heating cost, although it was noted comparing volume of gas used during that time would be a more accurate measure of the difference.

The Month of May will be designated “Habitat for Humanity” month with all loose offering and specially designated givings, going towards supporting the 2007 build that Lambton Presbytery is sponsoring.

A motion will go to the Official Board that the cost-sharing ratio between the two points of the pastoral charge be re-examined and brought in line with the ratio of resident members as published in the Annual Report (64% Arkona, 36% Ravenswood).

The Mission and Service Fund objective is $1500, with an additional $500 from UCW.

The choir is planning a concert in October.

Approval was given for the Central Treasurer to purchase an adding machine.

Information about Manse and Church Modernization grants will be forwarded to the appropriate committees.

Ailsa Craig United Church’s Sunday School has a presentation about the Old Testament that would be suitable for worship, that they would like to present to other congregations. The Session will extend an invitation for a Sunday that would be suitable.
