This morning's worship at Lambton Centre had gorgeous weather for an outdoor service. Warm sun, soft breeze, great stadium-sized clouds in a pure blue sky. It was easy to feel like part of God's creation.
The preacher, Fred Abma, of Sarnia, suggested that the wilderness is the beginning of our journey. We get used to our creature comforts and resist seeing the value in being out in the wild. Our society goes so far as to proclaim itself civilized with its growing suburbs and computer -generated realities.
Yet it was in the wilderness that Christ began his ministry, and in the "wilderness" of camp life, we find closer connections to our faith. It was a good reminder of my church camp days, friends made then (and still in touch with), and how glorious the world can be.
Continued prayers go towards the people of the southern states, New Orleans, and those devastated by Hurricane Katrina.
