London Road West United Church hosted an event on this P.A. Day (or is it a P.D. Day?), inviting boys aged 7 to 11 for a full day of activities, worship and fellowship. Relying on volunteers from their own congregation and from Lambton Presbytery, a quality program was enjoyed by 27 boys from Lambton County. Most of them were from Sarnia, but our pastoral charge was well-represented with 3 boys in attendance and myself offering assistance to the leaders as needed.
The theme was "Rhythm of Life: Moving and Grooving for God" and followed the story of King David's establishment of Jerusalem as his capitol and the joyous parade that brought the Ark of the Covenant to its new home. The boys wrote their own psalms, constructed phylacteries, and participated in a drumming circle.
It was a worthwhile event and hopefully a springboard for similar endeavours in the future.
