Marjorie Smith will be offering Weekend Supply for the church while I'm away on Parental Leave. She stopped by the church during office hours this week, met some of the meat pie crew and got oriented to the space and our way of doing things. We also drove out to Ravenswood so she could see the church and navigate her way there and back.
Marjorie has just finished covering paternity leave for a classmate of mine, and after a few weeks off, she'll begin her time with our pastoral charge in March. She will prepare and present worship on Sundays at both churches, offer limited pastoral care (as time and circumstances allow) and act as a supervisor for the pastoral charge, representing Lambton Presbytery's oversight at meetings.
I am also willing to be on-call for pastoral emergencies and in-community funerals as I am able. I remain part of the church communities, but don't want to be too visible for fear of clouding the whole point of being on Parental Leave: providing care for our infant and toddler.
After lunch with Shelley, Rei and I, and offering her compliments to the meat pie makers on the delectably thin crust, Marjorie left smelling like onions.
